THE NEWEST MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY...

It's nearly the end of 2008, and the age of blogging has been around for awhile now.  I've always been a little slow on the uptake (only just recharged my cell phone after TWO MONTHS of it being dead because I just don't think about using it) but I have been writing my kids stories for years and thought this might be a great place to transfer that story-telling to.  Hope you find it worthwhile, and I invite you to check back now and again and see what's "new" with the Duenas family. 

At this moment in our lives, the "new" happens to be a very cute, 5 lb, nearly 5 month old, Yorkshire Terrier named Chloe!  About 6 weeks ago, there was a lot of talk about a new litter of puppies that Daddy heard of.   Then, suddenly Mario (I call him the puppy-pusher) was emailing pictures of these little guys and next thing I know, Lauren is walking through the door with this adorable, hairy little thing in her arms.  "Look Mommy, Daddy got us a puppy!"  I looked at Juan, and then I looked back at Lauren and I said, "He did? Hmmmm. I thought you were running errands?"   Niko said with a great big grin, "We were.  This was one of them!"  I have been against having a dog because we are on the go so much of the time so when they both said,

"Can we keep her, Mommy?"  I looked at all of their sweet faces, and then at Lauren who was giggling because this new dog was covering her in kisses and I said, "She IS cute.  And tiny.  Let me see this puppy YOU all are going to take care of."  I took her in my arms and INSTANTLY fell in love.  She is SO SWEET!  It has been an adjustment, but, so worth it to watch them care for this gentle animal in such a kind and concerned way!
